Bacteria breeding ground – the refrigerator

Mildew or bacterial infestations in the refrigerator occur more often than you may think. According to a study by the University of California, there is an average of 11.4 million germs per square centimeter of space in the refrigerator. In toilets, the results showed 100 pathogens per square centimeter.

The causes are varied and cannot necessarily be linked directly with any possible negligence on the part of the person responsible for cleaning the home. Specific bacteria continue to multiply despite being cooled to 5 degrees Celsius; packaged cheese develops bacteria during the maturing process. Untreated bio-foods naturally tend to form more mold and germs. And fruit forgotten in the bag spreads spores and bacteria. What all of them have in common is that the infestation does not stop before it reaches the neighboring fridge content or storage shelves.

Polymer surfaces that have been treated with Sanitized® provide durable and safe protection against the colonization of molds, spores or bacteria in the refrigerator. That is why the Swiss company V-ZUG AG equips its refrigerators with the Sanitized® hygiene function. Commercial refrigerators from the Haier Group also rely on the knowledge and experience of the Swiss SANITIZED AG for hygiene and material protection.
