Head of Business Unit Textile

Together with my international sales team and our partners we support our customers as partners during the achievement of their goals.

As Head of Business Unit Textile I am responsible for the successful implementation of the SANITIZED global sales strategy and the continuous expansion of our market positions. It is an exciting task to be able to lead a dynamic and committed team to a mutual success.

Sanitized® gives me a good feeling, even during my sports activities, where our products ensure enduring freshness and greater wearing comfort due to their built-in hygiene function. When may we convince you of this?

Interview

Textile products that use Sanitized® technologies can be found in every country in the world. How do you manage to build and maintain that close proximity to your customers?

We have built a global network of competent and reliable partners from our main headquarters in Burgdorf, Switzerland. SANITIZED subsidiaries and a team of on-site colleagues represent us in China, India, and the U.S. Of course, direct and fast contact with headquarters is always ensured.

The European BPR Biocide Regulation regulates the entire textile production chain. How does SANITIZED support its customers in the process?

Although biocide regulations as a whole have already existed for a long time in the EU (BPR, Biocidal Products Regulation), the EU Biocide Regulation continues to raise many questions and doubts. The majority of active ingredients are still in the ongoing evaluation phase, and a select few active ingredients have currently been authorized for certain applications, while others are no longer authorized for use in the EU. Whether a finished textile product is ultimately approved for sale largely depends on the issue of whether BPR-compliant active ingredients and products were used with the treatment and whether the product claims of the final article meet the corresponding legal guidelines.

You and your team are at the cutting edge of the global textile industry. Where are the greatest challenges and where is SANITIZED lending its support?

Transparency and sustainability are two key topics that are becoming increasingly important for the global textile industry. It is heavily driven by the end customer market, since customers want to know where the textiles come from, how they were manufactured, and what is included. This particularly applies for antimicrobially treated textiles.

SANITIZED lends support as early as during the article design phase. The objective is always to achieve the hygiene function required by the manufacturer, e.g., prevent odor from forming in functional clothing. But this alone is not enough to meet our standards for safety and sustainability: Together with the processing industry and our customers, we find solutions for deploying biocide-free technologies or for optimizing product use.

Overcoming complexity

Furthermore, SANITIZED cooperatively assists manufacturers through the maze of the growing complexity: Which additives are authorized in which markets, which advertising statements can be made about the final product without getting in trouble with the authorities? Our in-house team of experts for regulatory and marketing-specific matters complete the comprehensive service offering with their consistently up to date knowledge.
