Does the antimicrobial function claimed actually work? The protection of the consumer against false promises in terms of effectiveness and safety is increasingly regulated in more countries. Currently, the French consumer protection agency DGCCRF is stepping up its controls to ensure the correct promotion of textile effects. The entire production chain is challenged because the agency is taking vehement action against violations.

To ensure that Carrefour, the world’s third-largest retail company, can market antimicrobial pillows as such, all production stages must comply with all of the legal requirements. The sales team at SANITIZED is therefore in contact with all players and carefully monitors the entire production and marketing process. In order to ensure that the Sanitized® treatment achieves the desired effect – in this case the protection against microbes and dust mites – and that the effect is correctly advertised, the SANITIZED team is the “connecting link” between the manufacturer of the fabric, the producer of the pillow and, of course, Carrefour, the distributor of the antimicrobial treated pillow from FGB Pillow.

Raynald Anquet, Quality Director at the Carrefour Textile Group goes even further: “Carrefour requires its suppliers to comply strictly with quality and safety regulations. Carrefour has the highest standards and reserves the right to raise the requirements if the safety aspects do not appear sufficient.”
