The SANITIZED AG TecCenter receives IAC Laboratory Certification for a second year. The in-house Microbiology Laboratory follows IAC test guidelines to determine the appropriate test method based on the antimicrobial additive and treated article.

The International Antimicrobial Council (IAC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting reliable and effective testing and use of antimicrobials and odor-controlling technologies. The SANITIZED AG in-house Microbiology Laboratory, part of the SANITIZED TecCenter, renewed its IAC Laboratory Certification to ensure accurate, efficient, and reproducible test results using the latest industry standard antimicrobial protocols.

The need for standardized testing

The IAC was founded on the premise that antimicrobial efficacy is determined through the use of standardized test methods. Many commonly used antimicrobial test methods allow a wide range of procedural variations that can cause test results to vary significantly within and between laboratories. By identifying and limiting these variations, IAC training programs provide a more uniform application of test methods to laboratories around the world.

In order to refine, improve, and promote the adoption of newly developed or existing test methods for antimicrobial technologies, the IAC works closely with its members and with standards organizations, including AATCC and ASTM International, to provide guidelines based on the mode of action of the antimicrobial and the treated article. Existing testing standards established by AATCC, ASTM, ISO, and JIS are customized for IAC members through the IAC Certified Laboratory Program to provide more consistent and reliable applications of antimicrobial technologies.

IAC programs and services

The IAC provides educational training programs to antimicrobial users to certify testing facilities worldwide and to educate textile mills, suppliers, brands, and retailers. Verification programs are also offered for antimicrobial testing in accordance with IAC guidelines.

There are many advantages of utilizing an IAC certified laboratory for antimicrobial testing. Benefits include remaining current with industry protocols, test methods, and procedures in order to accurately measure antimicrobial performance on treated articles. By maintaining its IAC certified laboratory status, the SANITIZED TecCenter renews its promise of providing customers with the highest quality test results for articles treated with antimicrobial additives.

Above all, through the effective use and application of antimicrobials, consumers can extend product use between wash cycles, saving time and money while reducing their household carbon footprint.
