Sanitized® Puretec™, a family of quaternary silane (quat-silane) based antimicrobial finishes, provides a sustainable, non-metal solution to odor control in textiles. Sanitized® Puretec™ is a unique technology on the market. It performs optimally with all textile substrates.

Unique, Well-Tested Performance

Sanitized® Puretec™ takes advantage of the well-tested antimicrobial properties of bound quaternary amine technologies, together with today’s innovative polymer science, to deliver a unique solution that provides durable, non-leaching antimicrobial surfaces to any type of textile surface. Properly treated quat-silane surfaces can deliver broad spectrum, durable antimicrobial properties proven to prevent bacterial attachment, biofilm formation, and long-lasting odor control by hindering the growth of unwanted bacteria.

The bacterial odor control feature provided by Sanitized® Puretec™ technology utilizes multiple functional surface modification techniques to control both the attachment and subsequent growth of bacteria on the fabric surface.

  • The negatively-charged bacteria get pulled by the positively-charged nitrogen atom onto the long carbon chain.
  • The process destroys the cell wall of the bacteria.
  • The reduction of bacteria on the surface reduces odor from sweat on textiles.

The antimicrobial action of the quat-silane surface is attributed to the high cationic charge density of the fully polymerized siloxane polymer network directly against the bacterial cellular membrane, which both physically and ionically reacts with contaminating bacteria to destroy the organism on contact.

Unlike other antimicrobial agents, the quat-silane polymer system does not need to be released from the surface to provide durable bacterial odor control. This system provides long-lasting effects without a release of the active ingredient to the environment, making it a safe and sustainable solution for odor control in textiles.

Technology Benefits

The Puretec™ product family by SANITIZED offers the unique advantage of durable and effective antimicrobial performance on both natural and synthetic fibers, which allows for a variety of end-use applications. The Puretec™ odor control solutions have demonstrated optimal performance through at least 50 washes on natural, synthetic, and blended fabrics using industry standard test methods at IAC-Certified laboratories.

The technology has excellent wash fastness and temperature stability. It can be easily integrated into existing application methods and is compatible with other textile performance finishes, such as moisture management, cooling, UV protection, etc., to provide added value for consumers on textile products.

Global Compliance

The Sanitized® Puretec™ product family is globally compliant with the treatment of textile products. The technology is registered with both the US EPA and the EU BPR. The active ingredient is also listed as an approved substance by Health Canada. Additionally, the technology is approved for OEKO-TEX® standard 100, classes I-IV, and is bluesign® approved.
